Hobo Fishing Reel (3D Printed)
Description:
A completely custom designed hobo fishing reel, 3D printed in two parts: The primary body and an endcap. The endcap seals the handle, which also serves as a storage compartment for tackle, extra line, and whatever else you want to stuff in there!
The endcap comes with a roll of tape around the endcap insert to secure it in place. Also features a ridged handle for better grip, and a series of divots around the bottom lip to hook the fishing hook into to keep it secure and prevent it from unravelling.

Applications:
Backcountry camping, rural life, backpacking
Design:
Original design by Michel Seguin
This item is designed on a computer and then 3D-printed using a desktop 3D Printer.
Dimensions:
Approximately 14cm tall, 5cm diameter
Holds ~150 yd of 10lb fishing line
Weight: Approximately 52g
Materials Guide:
3D printed in solid ABS
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene is a common thermoplastic polymer used in many industries due to it's resilient nature. A solid all-around material good for things that need a good blend of strength and resistance to wear.
Tools & Installation:
To spool line, tape end of line to inner face of spool. Wrap line around spool tight enough to prevent slack, but not tight enough that you’re pulling it taut.
To cast, release enough line for you to swing your tackle enough to build up momentum. Keep your thumb on the spool to prevent more from unravelling. Once you’re satisfied you’ll be able to chuck your tackle far enough, let go of it and simultaneously release your thumb from the spool so the momentum of the tackle can unspool the line as it sails away.
To reel in, hand-spool it back on the line, in a similar fashion to initial line spooling
Included:
- 1x Hobo Fishing Reel
- 1x Hobo Fishing Reel endcap
